Design & Living Magazine Wins Gold ADDY Award

Design & Living Magazine Wins Gold ADDY Award

Spotlight Media’s publication Design & Living Magazine took home an ADDY Award at the American Advertising Federation-North Dakota’s annual ADDY Awards held at the Holiday Inn in Fargo on Friday, February 23. The magazine won a gold award for cover/editorial spread or feature – series for the April, September and December 2017 issues.

Here’s what Becca Opp, Editor of Design & Living Magazine, said about winning the award:

The Project Issue was the first cover of my career. I had just started working at Spotlight Media when I pitched an idea for the cover and reached out to the owners of The White House Co., who helped us stage the scene, which was then photographed by Jesse Hoorelbeke of J. Alan Paul Photography and edited by our graphic designer, Sarah Geiger.

“It was so meaningful to be recognized by the AAF of North Dakota because it just goes to show that we’re all using our talents to the best of our abilities. The September cover was our first cover to be shot by staff photographer, Hillary Ehlen, while the December cover featured styling by Gathered. Boutique Rentals & Events. Each of our covers truly are the result of a group effort, and I’d like to thank everyone who was involved in the creation of these three.”

ABOUT THE ADDY AWARDS

The ADDY Awards is hosted by the American Advertising Federation of North Dakota. The only national design award that’s judged and reviewed by other designers, the ADDYs are the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition, with more than 60,000 entries across the country each year. Whether copy writing or full-on, multidimensional campaigns, AAF-ND members submit their best work to be judged at the local level and eventually districts and nationals if they continue to win.

THE DOWNTOWN ISSUE

Some might say they view Downtown Fargo as the “community’s front porch,” because it’s where people want to be. It’s where people bring out-of-town visitors. It’s where an incredible amount of growth and development is happening. It’s something unique to show off about this great community. Downtown Fargo is going through some exciting changes and a revitalization that makes it a model for the rest of the city, so we did some digging into a few of the many reasons why you should love it.

Giveaway Of A Lifetime: Designer Homes Of Fargo-Moorhead Opens Doors To $500,000 Home

Photos by J. Alan Paul Photography and Laura Cramer

The countdown is on! The doors have officially been opened for over two weeks and there are only 11 more weeks until they close.

Designer Homes of Fargo-Moorhead’s $500,000 home giveaway is underway and ready for tours. If you think you don’t stand a chance, think again. For the final qualifiers, the Giveaway of a Lifetime offers an impressive one in 1,00 chance of winning, so your odds of turning that key and hearing the winning doorbell are in your favor.

The home is open to tour Mondays–Thursdays from 3–7 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 1–5 p.m. It’s located at 4200 54th Ave. S. in The Pines at the District development in South Fargo. The $500,000 house is a five bedroom, three baths with 1,832 square feet on the main floor and basement. The home features an open kitchen with quartz countertop, finished basement with a large family room, rec. area, wet bar and a spacious three stall garage.

When you come to tour, you’ll find a registration station downstairs where Design & Living employees can help you sign up to win. Each week, roughly 60 certificates are selected from on-site registrations via email, making it 800 total certificates randomly chosen from people who visited the house.

Those looking to register are allowed one entry per day until October 16. The more times you register, the better your chances are to receive a certificate.

Over the next couple of months, there will be 100 certificates given away via social media campaigns and events that will be announced through Designer Homes and Design & Living websites and social media pages for additional certificates until all 1,000 have been randomly chosen—so follow those pages of Facebook.

After all 1,000 certificates have been given, those qualifiers will be asked to show up with their certificate the day of the final drawing on October 30 at the Ramada Plaza Suites in Fargo. Of those with certificates, the drawing will then be narrowed down to 30 finalists who will be given a key to take their turn at the winning door. So much suspense!

If you’re a certificate holder, you will also be eligible to win dozens of other prizes at the event: pool table valued at $6,000, $4,000 worth of gift cards and more. The winners will be randomly picked from the house certificates awarded. Additional prizes will most likely be announced at a later date.

Good luck! And may the odds be ever in your favor.
