Where are you from?

I’m from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. 

Tell us a little bit about you.

I’m a goofball who likes to watch movies, go for long walks with my dog Ian, and spend time with the people that I love. 

If there was a movie about your life, who would play you and why?

Christina Hendricks. We’re both redheads and total bosses! 

What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?

I love playing Dungeons and Dragons, petting any dog I can find, and drinking every cup of coffee I can get my hands on. 

What’s a ridiculous fact about yourself?

I set a triathlon record when I was 8 years old!

What part of your position provides the most value?

Maximizing my people skills. I’m a “wooer”, so I love winning people over and making lasting connections!

Tell us about your experience.

I got my first job at 14 as a pizza artist, and never looked back! I have experience in project management, marketing, leadership, operations management, and customer service.

What part of your job do you believe makes the most impact?

Making people feel heard and understood. It’s as simple as that!

Why does our community matter to you?

When I moved to the FM area in 2015, I was welcomed with open arms. That experience has inspired me to help foster a community that makes others feel the same way.

What are some of your goals at Spotlight?

I plan on boosting efficiency, driving sustainable change, and completing projects on time and within scope. Let’s do this!

Welcome Josiah Kopp

Meet Our Newest Photographer: Josiah Kopp

Where are you from?

I grew up in Beulah, ND. I loved to Fargo-Moorhead for college, and have been here ever since!

Tell us a little bit about you.

Im a 23-year old creative and outdoorsman. An addition to photography and design, I love exploring the outdoors with my camera, chasing night skies, colorful sunsets, and storm chasing. My favorite music to listen to while adventuring is Lord Huron. I grew up playing piano and guitar, and now I write and produce music. I REALLY love waffles. 

If there was a movie about your life, who would play you and why?

Although I grew up enjoying old westerns and other adventure shows like National Treasure, I think the character that best represents me is the Grinch: “6:30…. dinner with me… I can’t cancel that again!”

What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?

Writing and producing music, going on photo adventures, and thinking about what I’ll eat next. 

What’s a ridiculous fact about yourself?

A car ran over my leg when I was a young kid. Aside from some scrapes and bruises, my bones were all left unscathed. My guardian angel must’ve been working overtime.

What part of your position provides the most value?

Being able to connect and contribute to the Fargo-Moorhead culture. Not just the stories, but the photos too. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and I want the photos of Fargo-Moorhead to say all the right things.

Tell us about your experience.

I grew up homeschooled, which I believe allowed me the freedom to explore my creative interests. I designed for my first client at age 13. I first picked up the camera at age 16 as an outlet to cope with the stress of having Crohn’s Disease. I didn’t realize how much that (photography) would grow for me. In just a couple of years, I had accomplished some big things, like winning the North Dakota Governor Photo Contest, and runner-up Best of Decade. I went to Concordia College, and graduated with my BA in Graphic Design and a minor in Business. Despite COVID-19 throwing everyone’s lives upside down, I found Spotlight the fall after graduation, and I’ve been loving it here ever since!

What part of your job do you believe makes the most impact?

Yes, the text of the stories are what make our magazines exceptional. But I believe the photos are what grabs people’s attention first. I love being able to utilize and develop my love for photograph and capturing moments to share with the world. 

Why does our community matter to you?

Most businesses are focused on just themself and the client; a simple A to B relationship. However, Spotlight is so much more than that. We connect with so many different individuals with unique stories, and I love being a part of that.

What are some of your goals at Spotlight?

Contribute to the success of our new “Faces” magazine coming in 2021!
I also want to master my skills of working with studio lighting—light is everything in photography!

Lastly, I want to learn to be both a great team member, and an exceptional leader when opportunities are given.

Where are you from?

I was born in Lynchburg, VA but have lived in Fargo for pretty much my whole life.

Tell us a little bit about you.

I love live music so I started a concert promotion company here in Fargo. We do mostly electronic concerts and some hip-hop. When I have free time, I try and go out to as many shows as I can or drive to Minneapolis to catch one there. I love to travel and see new places. 

What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?

Go to concerts or music festivals.

What’s a ridiculous fact about yourself?

I don’t know if it’s ridiculous but I can play the piano.

What part of your position provides the most value?

Working with a solid team and doing something that leaves me feeling accomplished.

I graduated from Concordia College with a degree in Multimedia Journalism and a minor in business. When I wasn’t in class, I was busy being a tackling dummy for the football team. I have a passion for sharing information and am thrilled to be at Spotlight.

If there was a movie about your life, who would play you and why?

Danny Devito. Similar appearance.

What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?

My favorite thing to do in my spare time is watching football. I love sports, playing hockey especially. I also love dogs, who doesn’t?

Kirsten Lund Joins Spotlight as Inbound Marketing Strategist

We’re growing at Spotlight and we’re pretty excited about it! We recently hired Kirsten Lund as our new Inbound Marketing Strategist. Kirsten was working as the Digital Marketing Strategist a smaller agency for over five years downtown Fargo. Prior to that, she worked in traditional media buying for a large agency in Fargo just shy of four years.

Here are some initial questions we asked her when she started.

 

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

 

I graduated from Concordia College with a BA in Business Management in 2011. The day after graduation, I went to work for a large marketing agency in Fargo. In 2014, I went to work for a smaller agency and focused my efforts on digital marketing, managing a number of clients in a wide variety of industries for over five years. I have a heart for the Fargo-Moorhead area, and I’m excited that I have the opportunity to continue to bring my best efforts forward to help clients in the community succeed.

 

We’re expanding into the B2B market. Do you think HubSpot is the solution? If so, why?

 

I’m glad to hear that – especially with how many businesses have been (and continue to be) popping up in the area. What did your HubSpot certifications bring to Spotlight? 

 

Since I was already Marketing Software Certified and Agency Partner Certified, this allowed Spotlight to become a full-fledged HubSpot Certified Agency Partner as soon as they became an Agency Partner (which didn’t take long). I’m so thrilled that I was able to bring my knowledge and expertise over to an agency that’s excited to implement this tool to local and regional clients who want to use this tool for their own digital marketing strategy as a way to drive leads!
